Riccardo Muti Conducts Beethoven Missa solemnis - Chorus Assistant Conductor
Chicago Symphony Orchestra • Chicago
Few mass settings pose more questions of listeners than Beethoven’s Missa solemnis. A fervent meditation on faith and doubt, the piece spans moments of ecstasy and angst, soaring beauty and near-operatic theatricality. Riccardo Muti leads this rarely performed score with a thrilling quartet of international singers and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.

Spring Concery - in memory of J. Mark Baker
Milwaukee Chamber Choir • Milwaukee
For those who haven't heard, my friend and colleague J. Mark Baker died suddenly on April 5th. He and his group were midway through the rehearsal period for their spring program, having last met just a few days prior. We decided to turn this into a tribute/memorial concert, revising the repertoire to include some of his favorite music, most of which MCC had performed before. It's a lovely mix, and there will be two opportunities for the audience to join in the singing. If you're in or near Milwaukee, I hope you'll gather with us for this special event.
